Yesterday I sent an email with links to various sites to help you understand the new cybersecurty requirements implemented by the Department of Defense. If you didn’t receive that email, please let me know.
Today I would like to provide you with another DoD link that provides some additional information about the cybersecurity efforts:
The DoD takes cybersecurity very seriously and expects that it’s contractors and thier subcontractors do as well.
Please review the website and get familiar with the new requirements. The DoD understands that there may be challenges for many small businesses in understanding and implementing the new requirements, and they’ve provided a lot of resources to assist you.
Also, there will be a Cybersecurity workshop at the Chamber of Commerce on October 23rd from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This workshop is offered by the Cyber Collaboration Center and will include guest speakers from the the DoD Chief Information Office and from the Office of the Secretary of Defense. This promises to be a very educational workshop on the new cybersecurity requirements and the challenges faced by Federal contractors. You can register for this event here:
The cost to attend is $795, but clients of the PTAC, who register by 5:00 on Thursday, may use code: HI-PTAC and receive a $400 discount.
Mahalo and respectfully,
Hawaii PTAC Program Manager
