Hawai`i PTAC provides a wide range of assistance to businesses through professional and specialized training and technical assistance. This may consists of one-on-one counseling sessions, conducting seminars and workshops, and organizing matchmaking events.
Counseling: One on one counseling sessions to determine whether your firm is ready to do business with the government and to help you devise a marketing strategy that could give your firm a competitive edge in the government marketplace. A procurement counselor can assist by informing you about special programs, niches and benefits for a small business, such as the 8(a) business development, HUBzone, and Service-disabled Veteran-owned (SDVOSB) small business categories that your firm may qualify for.
Bid Matching: Qualified clients may access a computerized bid matching service at no cost to assist in locating federal, state, and foreign bid opportunities relevant to your business. This bid registration matching service is updated daily from FEDBIZOPPS, Defense Logistics Agency and other databases. This could save you time and money in locating relevant government contracting opportunities.
Market Research: Help to research and identify various government agencies that purchase your products or services, at what price, and what companies have been awarded contracts. Provide web-based and other free resources, such as agency forecasts and procurement events. This information could help you guide your marketing strategy and beat the competition.
Securing Registration and Certification: Assist with registration of your firm in various databases, such as the Central Contractor Registration (CCR), SBA's Dynamic Small Business Search (DSBS), Online Representations and Certifications Applications (ORCA), and other government vendor databases. Help determine whether your firm is eligible for certain preferred status in some government solicitations and guide you to accomplish the steps needed to secure certification, e.g., 8(a) and HUBzone, prime contractors, and small businesses that may lead to teaming and/or subcontracting opportunities.
Education and Training: Offer seminars and workshops covering a variety of procurement topics, e.g., Understanding Doing Business with the Government, Responding to RFPs, Getting 8(a) Certification, Marketing Strategy in Government Contracting, Cost and Pricing, Mentor-Protégée programs, among others. These are provided free or at nominal cost to the firm. Provide direct notification via electronic mail about upcoming procurement training events that may be useful to your firm.
Business Networking: Sponsor and coordinate Matchmaking events for agencies, prime contractors, and small businesses that may lead to teaming and/or subcontracting opportunities.
